HDR Promotes Sandy Tkacz to U.S. Health Director

HDR has promoted Sandy Tkacz, FACHA, AIA, NCARB, to Health Director for the firm’s U.S. architecture practice. Her responsibilities will include client engagement, operations, talent and business development.

Tkacz has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare planning, design, business development and practice leadership. She joined HDR in 2013 and has served as Health Director of the firm’s U.S. west and east regions, as well as a Health Principal. Across those roles, she directed strategy, client development and recruitment. Her project experience includes academic medical centers, community hospitals, pediatric and rehabilitation facilities, and ambulatory care networks.

“Healthcare has been at the center of my architecture career for more than 30 years, and I am always inspired by the impact of HDR’s design work,” Tkacz said. “I am honored to take on the role of U.S. Health Director and excited to work with talented health leaders and teams across the country as we continue our unprecedented growth and shape the future of healthcare through design and innovation.”

In 2025, Tkacz became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects (FACHA). The distinction recognizes contributions to health care planning and design, leadership, research, education and mentorship.
