Over 12 Lakh Tested for HIV in Haryana, 5,877 Found Positive

The state of Haryana screened 12,40,205 people for HIV between April 2025 and January 2026, of whom 5,877 tested positive, officials said. Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra stated that the state has expanded testing and treatment services, operating 104 Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres, including a mobile unit in Faridabad. During this period, 5,65,830 pregnant women were tested, with 613 found positive and linked to timely treatment to prevent mother-to-child transmission.

Haryana currently runs 24 ART centres across districts such as Rohtak, Gurugram, Faridabad, Karnal, Hisar, Ambala and Mewat, including 13 newly established units in medical colleges. Altogether, 40,851 patients are receiving treatment. Since December 2021, the state has disbursed ₹54.3 crore under a financial assistance scheme providing ₹2,250 per month to People Living with HIV, NDTV reported.

It also operates 31 STI clinics, 42 targeted intervention projects for high-risk groups, and 12 opioid substitution therapy centres with three satellite units, covering thousands of beneficiaries.
