Zoetis wins EU approval for Poulvac Procerta HVT-ND against Newcastle and Marek’s disease
Zoetis has received European Commission marketing authorization for Poulvac Procerta HVT-ND, a recombinant vector vaccine for chickens designed to help protect against Newcastle disease and Marek’s disease. The vaccine can be administered in ovo or by subcutaneous injection at hatch, offering protection in a single dose.
According to the company, the EU decision comes at a time when Newcastle disease remains a significant threat to poultry production across the bloc, with recent confirmed outbreaks reported in several European countries. Zoetis also said the authorization expands its Poulvac Procerta portfolio, following earlier EU approvals for HVT-IBD and HVT-IBD-ND.
Poulvac Procerta HVT-ND uses turkey herpesvirus (HVT) as its vector and is indicated for active immunization of one-day-old chicks and 18- to 19-day-old embryonated chicken eggs. The company says the vaccine is already approved in more than 35 markets worldwide.
For European poultry producers, the authorization adds another preventive tool in the fight against two economically important diseases, in a context where vaccination and biosecurity remain central to flock health management.
