Rentschler Highlights Milford Site Progress and Growth

During a gathering of Massachusetts political and company officials earlier this week, Rentschler Biopharma, a CDMO headquartered in Laupheim, Germany, cited the continued evolution and progress of its U.S. facility in Milford, MA. Since 2019, the company has transformed its facility into a multi-product site, according to Tom Roberts, president of Rentschler Biopharma, and general manager U.S.

“Our Milford site has entered a new phase of growth. We are onboarding diverse client programs, advancing late‑stage projects, and supporting partners from across the world who trust us with their most critical molecules,” he said. “I am grateful to our entire team for their dedication and hard work as we collaborate with our clients to transform innovative ideas into life-saving biopharmaceuticals and enable rapid market access to new treatments.”

The newest production line at the Milford site represents the largest expansion in Rentschler Biopharma’s more than 150-year history and spotlights the U.S. as a cornerstone of the company’s commercial strategy, he continued, noting that the production line became fully operational in 2024, adding 22,000 square feet of manufacturing cleanroom space to the existing Milford site, significantly expanding the company’s global cGMP capacity, and housing four 2,000 L single-use bioreactors.

Rentschler reports that the Milford facility supports a broad range of therapeutics across multiple modalities and disease areas, including oncology, hematology, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and organ failure indications. Over the past two years, seven new products have been successfully introduced to the site, including programs in or post PPQ (Process Performance Qualification).
