Kaiser Permanente among the nation’s highest-rated for quality and service

Rated highest or tied for highest in every region we serve, with 9 plans earning NCQA’s top 5-star rating

Kaiser Permanente continues to provide some of the highest-rated health care in the nation.

In the 2026 National Committee for Quality Assurance’s annual ratings, Kaiser Permanente’s commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid health plans earned the highest rating or tied for the highest rating in every region we serve.

NCQA evaluated nearly 1,000 health plans based primarily on 2025 data. Plans are rated from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the highest possible rating. Ratings assess the quality of care patients receive, their experience with that care, and efforts to improve.

The ratings reflect the work of physicians and care teams across Kaiser Permanente to provide high-quality, coordinated care.

More 5-star plans than any other health organization

Only 18 health plans nationwide received NCQA’s highest possible rating of 5 stars. 9 of those plans are Kaiser Permanente plans.

These include Kaiser Permanente’s commercial plans in Northern California and the Mid-Atlantic States area, and Medicare plans in Northern California, Southern California, the Mid-Atlantic States area, and Nevada, as well as Medicaid plans in Northern California, Southern California, and Maryland.

Kaiser Permanente’s commercial plans in Southern California, Colorado, Hawaii, the Northwest, and Washington received 4.5 stars. All Kaiser Permanente Medicare plans received 4.5 stars or higher.

Kaiser Permanente’s eligible Medicaid plans in Northern California, Southern California, Hawaii, and Maryland all were rated highest in their region or state.

For the 11th ratings cycle in a row, Kaiser Permanente has more 5-star and 4.5-star plans combined than any other health care organization. Only about 7% of health plans evaluated by NCQA earned a rating of 4.5 stars or higher. At Kaiser Permanente, 20 of 22 plans — 91% — earned 4.5 stars or higher.

It helps our care teams consistently deliver the right care at the right time.”

NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization that measures and accredits health care plans. NCQA ratings are based on a number of measures that assess how each plan performs. The measures include overall treatment, prevention, equity, and patient experience.
