Kyowa Kirin, Knight agree Latin American distribution deal for mogamulizumab

Under the terms of the transaction, Knight Therapeutics will oversee regulatory submissions and commercial distribution of the therapy across Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia.

The agreement grants Knight Therapeutics exclusive rights to market the medicine for mycosis fungoides (MF) and Sézary syndrome (SS), two subtypes of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), which is a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The arrangement marks Kyowa Kirin’s first commercial partnership for mogamulizumab in Latin America.

Kyowa Kirin Emerging Growth Markets Cluster general manager Céline Rhême said: “CTCL is more common in this region than many realise, and further work is needed to identify unmet needs and therefore drive improvements in patient outcomes. Mogamulizumab is described as a first-in-class humanised monoclonal antibody engineered to target CC-chemokine receptor 4 (CCR4), a protein expressed on cancerous T lymphocytes in both MF and SS.

When the antibody attaches to CCR4, it stimulates immune cells to destroy the malignant cells.

In both conditions, these cancerous white blood cells travel from the bloodstream to the skin, causing visible early symptoms such as red patches or plaques that can resemble eczema or psoriasis.

In some patients, the disease may subsequently progress to tumours or widespread reddening of the skin surface, known as erythroderma.

In July 2026, Kyowa Kirin subsidiary Kyowa Kirin EMEA received approval from the European Commission (EC) to expand the use of Crysvita (burosumab) for treating X-linked hypophosphataemia (XLH) in infants aged one month to one year across the EU and European Economic Area.
