Wellness Travel News: Now Is the Perfect Time to Reset
September is here, and I’ve been busy planning and advising on a range of wellness trips for my clients. There’s been lots of interest in longer stays before the end of the year, with many choosing to make time for themselves now, rather than waiting until January.
I’ve also had quite a few enquiries about winter wellness escapes, which has sent me researching more options for clients who like the idea of combining skiing or snowboarding with a proper wellness stay, or even just enjoying time outside in the snow, followed by somewhere warm and restorative to come back to. Mount Med Resort, Preidlhof, BUFF Medical Resort and Chenot Palace Weggis are all properties I’d recommend, depending of course on what you’re looking for from your trip.
And next month, I’ll be doing some more research of my own, with a trip to Spain and Portugal to meet suppliers, visit properties and learn more about what’s happening across the European wellness scene.
I’ve also been catching up on the latest new set-date retreats, programs and special offers, including an exciting new addition to Kamalaya’s extensive wellness offerings.
With that in mind, here are a few wellness travel updates, stories and offers I thought were worth sharing this month.
This Month's Highlights

My Review of TIA Wellness Resort
I recently returned to TIA Wellness Resort in Da Nang, and after more than a decade, I was curious to see how it had changed. I have very fond memories of my first visit, so it was lovely to find that, rather than losing what I remembered about it, TIA has only got better.
What I really like about TIA is the choice. You can fully embrace the wellness side of the resort, filling your days with treatments, yoga, breathwork and other activities, or you can simply slow down, enjoy your private pool and spend time on the beach. There’s no pressure to do it all, which makes it just as appealing if what you really need is some time to switch off.
For those looking for something more focused, TIA also offers a comprehensive Retreat Inclusive programme, along with a range of dedicated retreats designed around specific wellness goals
Check out this short video to give you a feel for the wellness experience on offer.

Kamalaya Introduces New Program: Sacred Renewal
Kamalaya in Koh Samui, announced a new program launching on 1 October 2026. Sacred Renewal is an 8, 11 or 15-night program that explores a more spiritual side of the Kamalaya experience, drawing on yogic and Vedic philosophy, ancient healing traditions, the lunar cycle and the five elements. What I find particularly interesting is that it adds another dimension to an already very broad offering.
Kamalaya now has programs covering everything from fitness, movement and strength to detox, gut health, sleep, longevity and emotional resilience, as well as longer stays such as the Wellbeing Sabbatical.
One of the things I love about Kamalaya is that you don't have to arrive with a particular wellness philosophy. Two guests can stay there at the same time and have completely different experiences depending on what they need from their time away.
Sacred Renewal will appeal particularly to those who already have an interest in yoga, meditation or contemplative practices and want to explore them more deeply. Learn More About Sacred Renewal Here

New Set-Date Retreats to Have on Your Radar
I'm always interested to see new set-date retreats coming through, particularly when they offer something a little different from a traditional wellness program.
Rediscover Yourself | Six Senses Kaplankaya
23–27 September 2026
This five-day women's retreat on Turkey's Aegean coast is designed around reconnecting with your body, embracing your natural rhythms and creating more space for your own wellbeing.
The retreat combines yoga, meditation, breathwork, somatic movement and women's wellness workshops with nourishing food and plenty of time to rest. With the Six Senses spa, pools, hammams and surrounding nature also on hand, it sounds like a lovely opportunity to slow down and reconnect.
Pilates in the Wild | Sri Lanka with Holistic Escapes
If you've been thinking about a wellness retreat for 2027, there's a new option in Sri Lanka that caught my attention. Pilates in the Wild is a seven-night small-group journey that combines daily Pilates with the opportunity to experience some of the country's most extraordinary landscapes and cultural sites.
Rather than staying in one resort for the week, the retreat moves through Negombo, Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and Galle, taking guests from ancient temples and the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress to the misty tea country of the central highlands and the colonial streets of Galle. There's also the famous train journey through the hill country, with each destination offering a completely different setting for the experience.
I particularly like this approach because it makes the destination itself part of the wellness journey. Mornings begin with Pilates, while the days are spent exploring, travelling through the countryside and experiencing Sri Lanka, with restorative yoga in the evenings. With a maximum of 12 guests, it also has a more intimate feel than a large group tour.
There are two 2027 departures currently planned — 15–22 May and 3–10 October — making this an interesting option for anyone who wants to combine movement, culture, nature and a little adventure rather than spending an entire week at one retreat.

Where to Go September
If you want to take advantage of the offers above September is a great month to consider travelling to India and Thailand, if you're happy to embrace the greener, quieter season. You can often find good value and fewer crowds, while the landscapes are lush and there is still plenty to enjoy.
September is also one of my favourite months for travelling through Europe. The peak summer crowds have started to ease, temperatures are generally more comfortable and you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine across Southern Europe.
Spain, Portugal and Italy are all particularly appealing at this time of year, whether you're looking for a dedicated wellness retreat or want to combine wellness with a longer European journey.
One property I'm looking forward to seeing more of on my upcoming trip is Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve, one of my wellness partners in Portugal. Set on the Algarve coast, Vilalara has a long history of wellness, with thalassotherapy at the heart of its offering alongside spa treatments, wellness programs, fitness and nutrition.
With September bringing milder temperatures and fewer summer crowds to the Algarve, it's a lovely time to experience the region.
