Delhi University temporarily bans protests, rallies, public gatherings- MAMC issues order

New Delhi: In a move aimed at maintaining order and ensuring smooth academic functioning, the University of Delhi has announced a temporary ban on protests, rallies and public gatherings within its campus for one month. The official notice regarding the temporary prohibition has also been uploaded on the website of Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), informing students and faculty about the restrictions applicable across the University campus.
This order is issued in view of information received indicating that unrestricted public gatherings, processions, or demonstrations on campus may lead to obstruction of traffic, threats to human life, and disturbance of public peace. In the past, organizers have often failed to control such protests, which have escalated and spread widely, resulting in deterioration of law and order wifhin the University campuses, the order said
This order shall come into force with effect from 17 February 2026 and shall remain in force for a period of one month, unless withdrawn earlier.
