Food Safety Raids Find Kulfi, Falooda, Badam Milk, Chocolates and Cashews Unsafe

Flying Squad teams of the Commissioner of Food Safety Department uncovered serious hygiene violations during surprise inspections across Hyderabad and other districts. At a Mallapur-based kulfi and beverage unit, officials found badam milk and other items being prepared in unhygienic conditions, exposed to flies, leading to the disposal of nearly 50 litres of contaminated products. In a separate raid at a cashew repacking unit, 36 kg of insect-infested cashews were destroyed, while 210 kg worth around ₹1.5 lakh was seized for suspected poor quality, with samples sent for laboratory testing.

As part of the statewide drive, 109 establishments were inspected and 190 samples collected. Authorities seized unsafe confectionery items including candies, chocolates, and flavoured sweets, while 35 kg of expired or substandard products were discarded. Improvement and show-cause notices were issued to violators. Officials advised consumers to avoid loose or unbranded food, check packaging and labelling, and watch for signs of spoilage such as unusual smell, colour, or texture, while urging prompt reporting of unsafe food practices.
