Punjab: In a major development for the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, the construction of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital and Medical College has been approved.

This major project, built at an estimated cost of around ₹218 crore, is expected to strengthen healthcare services in the district and open new avenues for medical education. On this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to visit Hoshiarpur later this month to inaugurate the construction work of this project.

MLA Brahma Shankar Jimpa stated that the medical college and 300-bed, state-of-the-art hospital will be built on the existing district hospital campus. He also stated that the medical college will admit 100 MBBS students annually, making Hoshiarpur a vital hub for medical education. The project will include a 300-bed modern hospital, a medical college building, a 500-seat auditorium, a mortuary, a laundry, an ART center, and other service buildings.
