VIV Select China 2026 reports 20,300 visitors in Shanghai

VIV Select China 2026 attracted 20,300 professional visitors from 113 countries and regions, according to figures released by the organisers following the event.

Held from August 19 to 21 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, the exhibition occupied 50,000 square metres and brought together 550 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions. The organisers reported a 36.7% year-on-year increase in exhibitor numbers, while overseas attendance was three times higher than in 2025.

International exhibitors came from markets including the Netherlands, the United States, Denmark, France, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Turkey, South Korea, Malaysia and India. Products and technologies on display covered animal nutrition, farm production, animal health, biosecurity, feed processing, digitalisation and aquaculture.

Focus on smart farming and aquaculture

A dedicated “V-AI + Smart Animal Husbandry” area featured more than 15 companies specialising in farming technology. The solutions presented included data platforms, automated feeding systems, environmental monitoring equipment and inspection robots.

The 2026 edition also introduced an Aquatic Breeding Zone covering different parts of the aquaculture production chain. Exhibits included smart control and environmental monitoring systems, recirculating water technologies, disease-prevention solutions and sustainable feeds.

Artificial intelligence and automation were also among the subjects discussed during the eighth VIV International Summit. The programme addressed the practical application of AI and robotics, agricultural large language models, sustainable production, changes in global supply chains and opportunities in emerging markets.

Speakers included Jeroen van Hooff, President and CEO of Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs; Nan-Dirk Mulder, Senior Global Specialist – Animal Protein at Rabobank; and Rifki Weno, Senior Advisor at Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

International business meetings

More than 20 Chinese and international industry associations organised buyer delegations for the event.

According to the organisers, the V-Match business programme connected 745 exhibitor representatives with 94 buyers through two days of individual meetings. Participating buyers came from countries including Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Egypt, Brazil, the United States and Poland.

The meetings covered product specifications, certification requirements, regional distribution agreements and supply arrangements.

The organisers also reported that several companies confirmed their participation in the 2027 edition during the event. These exhibitors operate in sectors including feed and feed-milling technology, animal health, farm equipment and services for the livestock production chain.

Jeroen van Hooff said that the exhibition area is expected to be expanded for the next edition to accommodate more companies and increase opportunities for meetings between Chinese suppliers and international buyers.

According to the announcement released after the show, the next edition of VIV Select China is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from August 17 to 19, 2027.
