Pharma Firms Warn LPG Shortage Could Disrupt Life-Saving Drug Production

New Delhi: Pharmaceutical companies in Gujarat have expressed concern that a shortage of industrial LPG cylinders could disrupt the production of life-saving medicines, particularly injectable drugs. Industry representatives have urged the state government to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply to prevent any disruption in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

According to industry officials, LPG cylinders play a crucial role in drug manufacturing processes, especially in sealing glass ampoules used for injectable medicines. Any interruption in LPG availability can slow down or halt production lines, which may ultimately affect the supply of essential medicines to hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Industry bodies have said that several pharmaceutical manufacturers are already experiencing irregular supplies of industrial LPG cylinders. As a result, they have approached the Gujarat government seeking immediate intervention to ensure steady fuel availability so that production of critical medicines continues without disruption.

According to a recent media report by The Times of India, industry representatives warned that the situation could become serious as some pharmaceutical companies reportedly have LPG stocks sufficient for only a few days of operations.

If the supply issue continues, pharmaceutical firms fear that the manufacturing of injectable drugs could be affected, potentially leading to disruptions in the availability of essential medicines.
