How Ectzone Built a Waitlisted TRX Studio in Dubai
A PoweredBy TRX Partner turned a city where members come and go into sold-out programs, waitlisted classes, and a community that keeps training long after it moves away.
Dubai is a hard city in which to build a loyal fitness community. Much of the population is expats who relocate often, and boutique studios compete for the ones who stay. Ectzone, owned by TRX Master Trainer Carla De Peuter, built its answer around a single training method. Five years after the Dubai studio opened, its peak-hour classes run with a waitlist.
The Problem: A Market That Keeps Moving
Ectzone's biggest business challenge has little to do with programming. "Many residents are expats who relocate frequently, which means there's a constant cycle of clients coming and going," De Peuter says. Even with a strong core community, steady growth means rebuilding momentum every time a regular moves away.
The second challenge is awareness. Suspension training is still a niche modality in Dubai, so winning a new member often starts with explaining what TRX is.
Why TRX
For De Peuter, the choice was never between TRX and something else. "TRX is at the core of my studio's identity," she says. Ectzone first opened in Singapore in 2019, and the Dubai studio followed in October 2021. Every class on the schedule is a TRX class except one weekly Pilates session.
The studio runs Suspension Trainers from multi mounts and layers in YBells, Bandits, Rip Trainers, and functional tools such as slam balls and ropes. De Peuter has taken almost every TRX course offered and now trains other trainers herself.
"Running a TRX studio has to be done with heart and soul, and it starts with genuine education," she says. "Anyone running a TRX studio should be top qualified."
What Changed
Ectzone's clients already trusted De Peuter's coaching. Several told her she deserved official recognition as a PoweredBy TRX Partner. "That acknowledgment meant a lot," she says.
The bigger change came in the programming. Many of Ectzone's most popular classes are now built directly from TRX Pro Coach Programming. "It has brought far more variety to my classes, and clients genuinely love every class," De Peuter says. "Just as importantly, it saves me hours of class planning, which frees me up to focus on other parts of running the studio."
She is clear that she adapts it rather than following it to the letter. "I don't use it blindly," she says. "It inspires me, sparks ideas, and lets me build my programs faster and with more variety."
Scaling Across Skill Levels
Members arrive at very different starting points, and the same class has to work for all of them. Jane came in with no experience. "I started as a complete novice, but quickly felt confident doing exercises I never imagined I could," she says.
Tamanna, another newer member, points to the coaching itself: "She explains the TRX exercises clearly, makes sure my form is correct, and creates a supportive environment that makes it easy to learn." Pooja returned to exercise after a long break and says De Peuter made restarting "engaging and achievable."
Member Feedback and a Standout Story
In a market defined by turnover, the length of Ectzone's member relationships stands out. Anne-Marie has attended four sessions a week for three years. Nafeesa has trained in the studio for more than two. "This is the first exercise class that I love attending and miss when I am unable to," Nafeesa says.
One member stands out for De Peuter. Wendy has trained TRX with her for more than three years while living with osteoarthritis in both knees. Through adaptable strength training, De Peuter says, Wendy has built strength, reduced her pain, and stayed fully active. "When she doesn't train, the pain creeps back. When she does, her joints stay strong, mobile, and supported," De Peuter says. "I'm incredibly proud of Wendy."
Measurable Business Impact
Demand at Ectzone has outgrown the room. Peak-hour classes regularly run with a waitlist, and most new members arrive through word of mouth from existing clients.
The monthly PoweredBy TRX Power Hour calls inspired De Peuter to launch structured programs at the studio. Since joining, Ectzone has introduced three: Sculpt & Tone, Ramadan Balance, and TRX ReStart, which has run twice. Every one has sold out. App subscriptions also rise each time a new program launches.
A Community That Travels
Ectzone's answer to Dubai's turnover is its own app, with live trainer-led classes, on-demand workouts, a TRX exercise library, and community challenges. Several members who left Dubai still train with De Peuter there, live or on demand. So do clients from her earlier studios in Singapore and Jeddah.
"It's been incredible to maintain those connections even after they've moved on from the physical studio," she says. Mirza, a current member, describes the same energy in both places: "The atmosphere in her TRX classes, whether in the studio or on the app, is so positive."
The Value of Being a PoweredBy TRX Partner
For De Peuter, the partnership pays off in three ways. "The official logos have given the studio instant credibility with prospective members who recognize the brand," she says. Pro Coach Programming has changed class variety and planning time, and the Power Hour calls keep her connected to other owners and bring new ideas back to the studio.
"Being part of Powered By TRX makes me proud, and it keeps me on my toes," she says. "I feel I've earned that recognition through the quality of my training. I live and love TRX, and I love watching my clients grow stronger."
It's a studio built in a city where members are always leaving, and it has a waitlist anyway.
