Wellness Travel News: New Retreats, Reviews & Offers | August 2026
Welcome to your latest monthly roundup of wellness travel news and updates from The Wellness Travel Expert.
It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into the final month of winter in Australia. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been busy behind the scenes planning wellness holidays for clients travelling later this year and into 2027, continuing to research new retreats, and building relationships with wellness partners who can offer unique experiences for my clients.
I’ve also been putting the finishing touches on my latest property reviews, including COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, with my review of TIA Wellness Resort coming soon. Alongside this, I’ve been connecting with new wellness partners across Portugal and Spain, discovering exciting new additions that I’ll be sharing with you over the coming months.
Over the years, I’ve noticed that wellness travel is always evolving. While many people still travel for stress relief, health goals or a complete reset, more travellers are choosing wellness retreats as a way to spend meaningful time together — with partners, parents, siblings and close friends.
My husband, sister and friends have joined me at beautiful wellness retreats over the years, and these shared experiences have always been some of my most memorable journeys.
“Wellness travel is about so much more than taking time away — it’s about creating meaningful experiences that support your wellbeing and bring you closer to the people you love!”
This month’s roundup reflects that idea — from a beautiful mother-daughter wellness journey at Kamalaya, to TIA Wellness Resort’s new babymoon experience, alongside retreats designed around different health goals and life stages.
With that in mind, here are a few wellness travel updates, stories and offers worth exploring this month.

My Review of COMO Shambhala Estate
My latest property review takes you inside COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, one of the world's most established destination wellness retreats. I recently returned with my sister, and it reminded me how rewarding wellness travel can be when it's shared with someone close to you. From the accommodation and wellness facilities to who I think it's best suited to, I've shared an honest look at what it's like to stay there.

A Beautiful Mother-Daughter Wellness Journey at Kamalaya
One of my favourite recent guest stories comes from Nancy and Elyse, who chose Kamalaya in Koh Samui for a meaningful mother-daughter wellness journey before Elyse moved overseas. Their time together at Kamalaya became more than just a wellness holiday. It was an opportunity to slow down, reconnect and create memories together before life took them in different directions.
What I really loved about hearing their experience was the reminder that wellness travel isn’t only about transformation, weight loss or overcoming burnout. Sometimes it’s simply about taking time to be present with the people who matter most.
As Nancy shared, you don’t have to be unwell to take a wellness holiday. A retreat can be a chance to pause, recharge and reconnect — whether you’re travelling with family, a partner, friends or enjoying time for yourself.
Kamalaya’s Asian Bliss program is one of their most popular relaxation-focused experiences, but it’s just one of many programs designed around different wellness goals and life stages. Whether you’re looking for deep relaxation, stress management, healthy ageing support or simply time away together, I’d be happy to help you find the right option for your journey.
Thank you, Nancy and Elyse, for sharing your experience and reminding us that some of the most meaningful wellness journeys are the ones we take together. Learn More About Kamalaya
