EuroTier 2026: poultry innovation focuses on automation, artificial intelligence and monitoring

DLG (German Agricultural Society) has announced the winners of the Innovation Award EuroTier 2026. This year, 176 innovations were recognised by the independent DLG Innovation Commission: four received Gold Medals and 27 Silver Medals. Among the Gold and Silver Medal winners, two innovations were also awarded the special Animal Welfare Award distinction.

The medal-winning companies represent ten countries and territories across Europe, Asia and North America. Overall, the submissions span 14 product areas, ranging from digital livestock management and smart farming to housing and feeding technologies for cattle, pigs and poultry, as well as manure management and environmental solutions.

Among the award-winning innovations are several solutions specifically developed for poultry, alongside cross-sector technologies that may also be relevant to poultry production.

ROVABARN SE, a highly automated mobile poultry barn

Mobile poultry barns allow laying hens and broilers to be moved regularly to new areas, helping to distribute nitrogen and phosphorus more evenly across the land. Traditionally, however, moving these structures requires a tractor or winch, while adjusting ventilation and supplying feed and water also involves considerable work.

ROVABARN SE from UKKÖ Robotics combines the concept of a mobile poultry barn with a high degree of automation. Via an app, the system monitors water and feed consumption and can move autonomously across the land up to 20 times a day.

The birds are therefore regularly provided with fresh feeding areas, while nitrogen and phosphorus are distributed over a wider surface, avoiding high concentrations in individual locations.

The system also includes automatic folding walls for temperature control, integrated feed and water supply systems and protection against predators. Farmers can continuously monitor the barn’s feed, water and energy supply and analyse consumption data, bringing data-based flock monitoring functions to mobile poultry housing.

BarnBuddy, artificial intelligence for animal monitoring

VetVise GmbH – BarnBuddy
Hall 16, stand D23 – Silver Medal

BarnBuddy is a camera-based, AI-supported livestock and health management system developed for poultry, pigs and cattle.

The cameras analyse feeding behaviour, activity and animal distribution, helping to identify possible health or climate-related problems at an early stage.

At the core of the system is a generative AI assistant that combines the collected data with veterinary and agricultural science information and translates it into practical recommendations available in 35 languages.

BarnBuddy can also directly operate barn computers. Alerts are therefore not only generated but also assessed, with the aim of providing more precise guidance and reducing time-consuming trips to the barn.

Electronic Egg to reduce damage during egg transport

Bröring Technology GmbH – Bröring Electronic Egg
Hall 14, stand C44 – Silver Medal

In laying hen barns, egg transport from the nest to the grading and packing station is now extensively automated. During this process, however, a proportion of eggs can be damaged and, in some cases, the percentage can exceed 10%.

Electronic eggs are used to identify impacts and optimise transport systems. Existing devices often require computers and dedicated data transmission systems, making them more difficult to use in everyday farm operations.

The new Electronic Egg from Bröring Technology can instead be used directly in the barn without a computer. Impact intensity is indicated by LEDs of different colours, allowing critical points along the transport line to be identified precisely.

Problems can therefore be corrected directly within the system, with the aim of reducing egg breakage. The device can also be connected via Wi-Fi to a smartphone, tablet or PC for documentation purposes without the need to install specific software.

FEED CHECK for automated monitoring of feed silos

Constantec Co., Ltd. – FEED CHECK
Hall 12, stand B03 – Silver Medal

Among the cross-sector technologies that may also be relevant to poultry production is FEED CHECK from Constantec Co., Ltd.

Automated silo fill-level monitoring is an established tool for keeping track of feed stocks and ensuring that new feed can be ordered in good time.

FEED CHECK introduces LiDAR technology to precisely record the surface of the feed stored in the silo and determine its remaining volume.

The system also integrates temperature and humidity sensors, allowing the condition of stored feed to be monitored continuously and enabling early action in the event of potential quality deterioration.

With three measurements per day, the replaceable rechargeable battery can provide a service life of up to five years, supporting low-maintenance operation and greater process reliability.

Needle-free technologies for vaccine administration

Developments in animal health management also include the use of needle-free injection systems, in which liquid medicines are delivered through the skin using high pressure.

These technologies are already used in certain animal species, including pigs and poultry, and can reduce pain and stress associated with needles, the risk of infection at the injection site and cross-contamination. They also eliminate the need to dispose of single-use needles.

Among the award-winning innovations, RoBooVaxx from Obuda University applies the principle of needle-free administration to a robotic system developed specifically for cattle, integrating cameras and artificial intelligence to automatically identify the optimum injection site.

Overall, the awarded solutions highlight the growing integration of automation, sensor technology, artificial intelligence and data analysis. Among the poultry-related innovations presented, these technologies are applied to continuous monitoring of animals and their environment, feed and water management, housing automation and the control of egg-handling processes, with the aim of improving production efficiency and farm management.
