SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE 2026: A Global Meeting Point for the Livestock Industry

From 6 to 9 October 2026, Clermont-Ferrand, France, will once again become an international meeting point for livestock professionals as the SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE celebrates its 35th edition.

Recognised as one of the world’s leading exhibitions dedicated to livestock farming, the SOMMET will bring together more than 1,800 exhibitors and over 120,000 professional visitors from nearly 100 countries. Around 2,000 animals representing 70 breeds will showcase the excellence and diversity of French and European livestock genetics.

In 2026, particular attention will be given to pastoralism, as the SOMMET serves as France’s flagship event for the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, proclaimed by the FAO and the United Nations. International conferences and exchanges will highlight the importance of grazing systems for resilient livestock production, biodiversity, sustainable land management and the preservation of traditional farming knowledge.

Another major highlight will be the Limousin National Championship. Renowned worldwide for its adaptability, feed efficiency and meat production qualities, the Limousin breed will offer international livestock professionals an outstanding showcase of French beef genetics.

Innovation will also be at the heart of the exhibition. A new Animal Health Hub will bring together laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, veterinary services and experts, while the agricultural machinery sector will expand by an additional 10,000 m². More than 140 conferences and technical seminars will address key challenges such as food security, water management, climate adaptation and farm performance.

With around 6,000 international visitors and 330 international exhibitors expected, the SOMMET is also a major platform for business and international cooperation.
